Bat Homes

So this afternoon I am going to be scaling a tree and hopefully giving the bats a new home. I kind of feel bad though, we have an alterior motive. We're going to be locating a survaillance camera to spy on them - big brother stylee. It's going to be fluke if they even choose to live there, but if they do - hello amazing shots of nesting bats! Quite excited! I'll let you know if there's any progress, or if I break my neck whilst climbing the tree...

Conservation, conservation and conservation

So there's something to be said about being sat in a room full of wildlife photography enthusiasts (all of whom wearing insanely practicle footware) from all around the world and being shown hundreds of photographs for the total of about 7 hours.
It got me thinking. Not just about the photographs themselves, but of all the issues surrounding them. The main topic being preached from the lecturn, and indeed from the photos on the 40ft screen, was that of conservation.
As much as I believe that this world and all of its resources are to be treasured, the debates that ensued seemed to have something else involved. It seemed that it was just filled with accusations and finger pointing. Surely this topic should bring people together to fight a common cause?
Then there's the other side... Being a Christian I have almost been brought up with the view of 'Why would you care about the whales when people are dying?' But that's just a whole other kettle of fish (fish being the operative word).... but we'll chat about that one another time.

Where do I stand on all of this? I don't know. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
